Reports of tuberculosis cases in California dropped nearly 6 percent last year, but they soared in Orange County, state health officials said.
There were 4,059 TB cases reported throughout the state last year, a 5.9 percent drop from 1996 and the fifth consecutive yearly decline, the California Department of Health Services said Tuesday.
But Orange County's TB rate jumped 20.9 percent over the same period.
Declines were recorded for the other counties with the largest populations. Rates decreased by 32.3 percent in Riverside, 13.2 percent in San Diego, 7.6 percent in San Francisco, 2.1 percent in Los Angeles ...
