Westlake had last year's bitterly disappointing Division III championship loss to Harvard-Westlake etched in its memory to use as motivation. Its harsh reality pushed the Warriors all season. The hurt urged them to work harder, practice more.
In the end, however, against Beverly Hills in the 1998 Division II tennis championship it didn't matter. The Normans didn't know about the Warriors' suffering and didn't care. It showed, Beverly Hills 10, Westlake 8.
