IT'S been a dismal year for the Los Angeles Unified School District, and the Board of Education couldn't be more ecstatic and pleased.
The list of successes is stunning: Ruben Zacarias hasn't quit. No bureaucrats have been indicted. And students' test scores are just about as bad as ever.
In short, nothing's changed on the Good Ship Lollipop. Congratulations all around.
The board lavished praise on Zacarias in his evaluation as if something had actually been achieved. In fairness, he deserves credit for at least making more of an effort than the previous batch of forgettable superintendents.
But the results are still lackluster. ...
