Ask people like Rabbi Yossi Malka of Tarzana why so many Jews choose to live in the West Valley, rather than other parts of greater Los Angeles, and they pitch the place like eager real estate agents.
They point to its family oriented neighborhoods, synagogues and social services, good schools and convenient access to jobs.
The West Valley - from Tarzana to Woodland Hills, Calabasas to West Hills - also boasts one of the largest Jewish communities around. At 40,000, it has nearly doubled since 1979, according to a new report by The Jewish Federation on population trends in the last 20 years.
