It's been two years since Democrats Scott Wildman and Jack Scott pulled off upset wins for Assembly seats previously held by Republicans in Burbank, Glendale, La Canada Flintridge and nearby communities. Now, they face stiff re-election fights.
The victories by Wildman, D-Glendale, and Scott, D-Pasadena, marked the end of decades of GOP strongholds in the 43rd and 44th districts, and extended the dominance of Assembly Democrats throughout the San Fernando Valley.
