Howard Abrams, the region's winningest high school basketball coach, has been removed as coach of the Montclair Prep boys' team.
Abrams, who has coached the Mounties since 1976 and led the school to three Southern Section titles and a state championship, has been involuntarily reassigned to the newly created position of assistant athletic director.
``I can't tell you the whole story right now,'' Abrams said. ``I've been real happy as coach the last 22 years. Something might break by the end of the year, but right now how it stands, I'm not even coaching.''
