Today - Palm Sunday - marks the beginning of what Christians of all denominations observe and celebrate as the Holy Week before their Messiah's resurrection on joyous Easter.
Palm Sunday, a week before Easter, commemorates the day Jesus made his triumphal entry into Jerusalem while people laid palm leaves and clothing in front of him, proclaiming him king.
Christians observe Palm Sunday with special services and the distribution of palms.
