The mausoleum vault was scarcely sealed Tuesday at the interment of Los Angeles police Officer Kevin Gaines when the debate resumed over the still-murky circumstances of his shooting death March 18 by another officer.
Gaines, 31, was shot by on-duty narcotics Detective Frank Lyga, 40, on Cahuenga Boulevard near Lankershim Boulevard in Studio City after what Lyga says was a traffic confrontation. Investigators have said Gaines and Lyga were unaware they both were police officers.
