The lure of good food will hook 'em every time.
That's one reason why 14 Shasta Elementary School students signed up (and there was a waiting list) for Jane Heinan's elective cooking class. And that's why about 150 people turned out to eat at the students' recent end-of-the-quarter public dinner.
``I think that's why everybody wants the class - because they get to eat,'' joked Heinan, a Shasta resident.
Whatever the reason, the students culminated nine weekly lessons by dishing up beef manicotti (a meatless variation, too), linguine with shrimp and saffron sauce, Caesar salad, ...
