Tightly gripping a clear plastic container full of reddish dirt, Kim Yong-sun recalled her promise to her dying father.
``I promised him that I would cover his grave with earth from North Korea, earth from home,'' said Kim, 43, her eyes rimmed red from crying.
She and thousands of others turned up Thursday for 2 pounds of North Korean soil, imported by a trading firm after two years negotiating political barriers and given to the shilhangmin - people of lost homes.
