Back in the '20s, city folks took the red trolley to the beach for a weekend of sunning and shell collecting.
But those days - and almost all the shells - are long gone.
Usually, the closest you can get to beautiful seashells is a gift shop, but for the next few weeks you can see them up close and personal at Shell-A-Bration of Summer, which opens June 13 at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History and its satellite facility, the Sea Center on Stearns Wharf.
