For many people, horses are a hobby or, perhaps, a means to get some exercise.
But for Brenda Lachman, the horses that originated in ancient Arabia and were used by the nomadic Bedouin tribes, have a special place in her heart.
``A Bedouin's greatest treasure was his horse,'' said Lachman, a member of the Antelope Valley Arabian Horse Association. ``My horses are my treasures.''
Lachman was on hand Friday for the first day of the association's 16th annual Arabian Horse Show, which continues through Sunday at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds, 155 E. Ave. I, Lancaster.
