In the fall of 1991, Elijah Raphael was Los Angeles' high school rushing champion. By the spring of 1993, he was a tackling dummy at Washington State. A year after that, he was practicing moves in a snow-covered Pullman parking lot, wondering when he might step onto a football field again. Or if he ever would at all.
