As the United Nations gives Iraq an opportunity to talk about settling the crisis over U.N. weapons inspections, President Saddam Hussein is using the time to hide evidence and disable surveillance equipment, the head of the disarmament commission told the Security Council on Wednesday.
While the standoff continues, the report said, the inspection system no longer can verify that Iraq is not making weapons of mass destruction.
