Taxpayers are getting it in a variety of ways when it comes to the state's seismic retrofit program for bridges and highways (``Bungled bridges?'' Editorials, Nov. 20).
Those responsible for the improper welds uncovered by the Daily News' investigation should be held responsible until things are made right.
At the same time, the remainder of the program to make our roads safe in the event of another major earthquake is under attack and could face serious delays.
A state Department of Transportation engineers union has filed a lawsuit that will delay completion of the remaining seismic retrofit program, including dozens of bridges and overpasses ...
