This looks like another winter week when anglers will have to dodge wind and rain. Between storms, however, there have been some excellent signs for a strong bite.
At Santa Catalina Island on Monday, the Betty G. out of San Pedro's 22nd Street Landing landed 15 white seabass for only five anglers. During one 45-minute span, it was as good as it gets, said skipper Dan Strunk.
"The guys started with 25- and 40-pound mono, (monofilament fishing line) and had no problem getting a bite. These fish didn't seem line-shy at all," he said. "Toward the end, everybody was using 12- and 15-pound mono and ...
