As negotiations draw near over how much Salick Health Care Inc. might pay for Westlake Medical Center, the fate of the hospital's emergency room hangs in the balance.
Columbia/HCA, the Nashville-based health care giant that acquired Westlake Medical Center in 1995, announced early this year it would close acute-care operations at Westlake Medical and combine them with services at its facility in Thousand Oaks, Los Robles Regional Medical Center.
