* Qatar - Fifteen international contracting groups are prequalified to bid by 8 April for the Salwa highway upgrade contract. Estimated to be worth at least $200 million, the contract is one of the largest road packages ever tendered in Qatar and involves expanding a 95-kilometre stretch of road into an eight-lane highway with the construction of about 14 interchanges. The client, the Municipal Affairs & Agriculture Ministry, is evaluating bids for three other major road contracts, the Ras Abu Aboud-F ring road, the Salwa interchange and the immigration interchange (MEED 8:2:02).
