If the MIAA had chosen an MVP for its Division 1 state tournament, the decision would have been quite simple.
Waltham forward Mike Aiello, who scored nine goals during the regular season, scored five goals in the tournament - including two in the Hawks' 3-2 victory last night over Sprinfield Cathedral in the state final. Aiello's dramatic overtime goal gave Waltham its first state hockey championship in school history.
"I can't say enough about Michael Aiello,'' said Waltham coach John Maguire. "He's been great for us all throughout the tournament. . . . He's just been unbelievable.''
