Mar. 18--Here's two-and-a-half cheers for the 21st annual edition of the Pioneer Press 100.
This year's crop of Minnesota's 100 largest publicly held companies easily outshined the leading stock market indexes over the past year.
And it came despite a miserable business environment -- a recession and the aftereffects of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
So why not three cheers?
Mostly, the answer lurks down on the bottom line.
It turns out that the prices of many Minnesota stocks fared much better than did their earnings over the past ...
