Chief Justice William Rehnquist's condemnation of attacks on federal judges (Daily News, April 10) ignores a much more volatile problem that exists among the judiciary of the Los Angeles County family law court.
The public would be surprised and appalled to know that judges and commissioners appointed to the family law bench in this county are not required to have any training in this specialty. And statistically, over half of those currently sitting on the bench began their judicial career in family law court without having any such background. Most will gain their experience while on the bench.
