As a young man, John Crowe planned to become a police officer. He wanted a life of public service in the same vein as his father, who ran a youth program in his native Detroit.
But instead of putting on a badge and a gun, Crowe opted for the white collar, black shirt and slacks of his Roman Catholic religious order.
He devoted his life to service, helping problem kids walk the straight and narrow path.
Brother John Crowe has been executive director of Boys Town of the West, also known as Rancho San Antonio, since 1970, and his affiliation with the Plummer Street facility dates to 1961.
