As the spring elections got underway this month, New Orleans chose a new mayor and voters in Oakland, Calif., and Santa Fe, N.M., reelected incumbents to run their respective cities.
In New Orleans, Cox Communications Vice President and political newcomer Ray Nagin received 59 percent of the vote to become the city's next mayor. He defeated New Orleans Police Superintendent Richard Pennington, who received 41 percent of the vote.
Nagin asked supporters to have patience as he works to change the city.
