VALENCIA - When the pupils at Helmers Elementary School heard that the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry was in danger of losing the building it has been using since 1986, they wanted to do something to help.
Student Council President Courtney Mun suggested that the school have a fund raiser and donate all of the proceeds to the Food Pantry.
``It really affected me when I heard that the Food Pantry provides food to a large number of children,'' said Courtney, a sixth-grader at Helmers. ``It is hard for many of us to imagine what is is like to not have enough food to eat. We are so fortunate.''
