I knew I was in trouble when I ran out of hard road and the car began shimmying in the sand.
Overhead, the sun was heading toward the horizon - fast - and the shadows grew longer by the minute. I was hemmed in by cliffs that looked almost prehistoric. Uncertain, I considered turning back, but decided to see what was around the bend. Keep moving, I told myself, and you won't get stuck.
Suddenly, I rounded a sharp curve and above me loomed a massive rock formation, carved by millions of years of wind and water, that looked like photos I'd seen of a Greek temple with dozens of stone maidens forming ...
