DALLAS _ This trade cut to the core.
A Stars season that had seen the departure of a coach, general manager and team president saw the team say good-bye to fond Stanley Cup memories by dealing Joe Nieuwendyk and Jamie Langenbrunner in a four-player trade with the New Jersey Devils.
The Stars received center/right wing Jason Arnott, right wing Randy McKay and the Devils' first-round draft this year.
The trade made the Stars bigger by adding Arnott (6-4, 220 pounds) and McKay (6-2, 210). And Arnott, the key to the deal according to general manager Doug Armstrong, is eight years younger than Nieuwendyk.
