DSM Engineering Plastics has introduced Akulon Ultraflow, an improved-flow nylon 6, and Akulon ReCap, a family of recycled nylon products.
Akulon Ultraflow is said to improve flow in glass-reinforced and unreinforced nylon 6 grades by as much as 80% in comparison with standard nylon 6 grades. It is offered in unreinforced and in 30%, 40%, and 50% glass-fiber-reinforced versions.
According to DSM, the improved flow leads to numerous processing efficiencies, including a shorter injection and hold time, a faster crystallization speed, and a lower processing-temperature requirement. Combined, these effects translate into a 25% reduction in cycle time, says ...
