Newly appointed Los Angeles Opera artistic director (1 Placido Domingo unveiled a Lohengrin featuring newly appointed principal conductor Kent Nagano in a provocative, visually arresting staging, courtesy of Academy-Award-winning Maximilian Schell. Aided by Dirk Hofacker, Schell called on his cinematic skills to fashion unforgettable images detailing German nationalism, both its Goethe-inspired heights and Nazi abysses.
