Researchers said Thursday that they have found a single gene that governs the sex life of the male fruit fly, from his choice of a partner to courtship and mating.
A team of scientists from four universities believe their research is the first to identify a single gene in any animal that affects all or nearly all parts of complex behavior, sexual or otherwise.
While no comparable gene has been found in humans or other animals, the scientists said it could be present, affecting any complicated behavior, not just sexuality.
