Students in modular classrooms at Kitty Hawk Elementary School and the Cape Hatteras Schools were evacuated Wednesday after school and fire officials found there were no functioning fire alarms.
With Wednesday's closures, six modular units at four different schools have been closed because of malfunctioning or nonexistent fire alarms, Dare County Fire Marshal Doug Remaley said. All should be ready for students by week's end, officials said.
