Several hundred college students rallied Wednesday against tuition increases before marching to the Capitol to present empty piggy banks to state senators.
"The piggy banks are empty because we don't have any more money to give," said Matt Fargen, president of the United Council of UW Students.
One protester was Brian Jenks, 18, a freshman from Oak Creek, who said he doesn't want to see tuition increases each year. "My parents pay it. I'm a lucky one," he said. "But I need to fight for all the people who can't afford it."
