SAN JOSE, Calif. _ Missouri, once but a footnote to the Big 12 season, wrote its name all over the NCAA Tournament history book with its 82-73 victory Thursday over UCLA, its first ever over the Bruins.
Not only did the Tigers become the first No. 12 seed to play its way into the Elite Eight, but the victory also assured the Big 12 Conference of putting its first entrant into the Final Four.
Oklahoma set up that possibility by knocking off Arizona in the first game of the West Regional on Thursday night. Then Missouri, the Big 12's sixth-place team in the regular season, clinched it by beating UCLA.
