If Clinic could disappear into its music, it would. Until then, it settles for anonymity in the form of surgical masks and scrubs that block out any individuality. There are no stars in the Liverpool quartet, they'd like to say, just the music.
"I think we felt it was an old-fashioned rock idea that you'd want your face in photographs," keyboardist and lead singer Ade Blackburn said. "It's egotistical. We felt it was far stronger to have an identity as a band as a whole. No one person is any more important that anyone else."
