Callers to The Kentucky Post Reader's Hotline would like to pull the plug on vending machines in public schools that offer candy bars, soda pop and other high-fat snacks to school children.
By a margin of more than 2-to-1, callers said the sale of soft drinks and junk food should be banned in Kentucky schools.
A recent University of Kentucky study says 84 percent of what is sold in school vending machines in Kentucky could be categorized as junk food - mostly soft drinks, candy and pastries.
