We are that other winery built with straw, to which you refer to in your November column. We built our winery in 1995, also out of rice straw bales, and have been told that we are not only the world's first straw bale winery, but also the first commercial straw bale building in the state of California.
Our "House of Straw" has been our home now for six years, and we're absolutely crazy about it. Works great (without any heating or cooling!), looks great, feels great! We even have a wine label (our Straw Bale Red and Straw Bale White table wines) with a painting of our building, showing the three ...
