Emily Ford and Luann Cardinal knelt on the sidewalk and arranged flowers outside Plymouth Congregational Church Sunday.
"We're making pictures as a blanket to remember when Jesus walked into Jerusalem," said Ford, a ninth-grade student at Nottingham High School.
"To worship him, people showed great respect by laying down their clothes for him," said Cardinal, a junior at Nottingham.
The girls were among about 12 young people who created a carpet of flowers along East Onondaga Street, Syracuse, as part of Plymouth Church's annual Palm Sunday procession.
