Mar. 26--Belfonte Ice Cream & Dairy Foods Co. formally opened its $4.5 million headquarters at 1625 Cleveland Ave. on Monday just a few blocks from its longtime Kansas City production plant.
"It was important to us to stay in the neighborhood," said John Belfonte, vice president of the 30-year-old company. "This part of the city has been good to our family and our business."
Belfonte said the proximity to its production plant at 1511 Brooklyn Ave. and good interstate access played roles in deciding to stay in the area. The city also provided tax incentives.
