WHAT a difference five minutes makes. A shade after an hour had passed at Elland Road last night Joe Cole looked to have booked his World Cup ticket after finding the guile and tenacity to set up Robbie Fowler for England's opening goal.
Less than 300 seconds later he was surrendering the ball in the most dangerous of defensive areas to allow Vincenzo Montella to strike home a wonderful left-foot equaliser.
Therein lies the conundrum that is Cole - the West Ham midfielder with the Gascoignelike talent but with seemingly a self-destruct button to boot.
