THE Queen Mother's relationship with Diana, Princess of Wales has often been described as intriguing, not least not because Diana was said to remind her of her younger daughter, Margaret - another royal rebel.
Yet the Queen Mother always approved of Diana for her favourite grandson.
Although, it has never been made clear how involved she was in her beloved Charles' engagement to 19-year- old Lady Diana Spencer, in his authorised biography of Charles, Jonathan Dimbleby wrote that she "counselled strongly in favour of marriage."
