VATICAN CITY: In a new book, a Vatican official has denounced the increasing forms of "sexual tourism" that exploit more than a million children around the world.
Msgr. Piero Monni said he wrote the book, The Archipelago of Shame: Sexual Tourism and Pedophilia, to draw attention to the great numbers of minors who are "exploited for sexual or pornographic ends, and bartered or sold as slaves" on every continent.
Monni has spoken about the problem frequently as the Vatican's permanent observer at the World Tourism Organization, and is a former professor of bioethics and law at a papal university in Rome. He presented his 364-page book at a press conference ...
