IT WAS a bizarre sight but a strangely appropriate one.
In among all the bouquets, cards and candles outside Clarence House sat several brightly-packaged chocolate Easter eggs. And there was further symbolism too on the grass verges of the Mall.
There, among all those cellophane-wrapped bundles of perished, wilting stems, a flourishing army of daffodils stood proudly on parade.
If the prevailing national mood was one of solemn reflection yesterday, there was also a strong sense of respectful celebration for a life well-led, well-lived and well-loved.
