A proposed 35-mile all-terrain-vehicle trail near the North Shore has become the latest legal battleground over the environmental effects of the popular vehicles.
Minnesotans for Responsible Recreation (MRR), a Duluth-based environmental group, sued the state Department of Natural Resources late Thursday, demanding an environmental impact study of the Moosewalk-Mooserun Trail in Finland State Forest, north of Silver Bay.
The suit is the first to seek a full-blown environmental study of an ATV trail, which could take months, and comes as the Legislature is considering measures to designate 2,000 miles of ATV ...
