Mar. 30--It's a further sign of globalization -- China is exporting its dust.
For the second year in a row, a Chinese dust storm has blown across the Pacific to the West Coast -- revealing how pollutants can be transported not just valley to valley, but halfway around the globe.
Wisps of the dust reached the Central Valley Thursday night, but the bulk of the storm could arrive Monday, if the jet stream pushes it down from Alaska, said Thomas Cahill, a professor emeritus of atmospheric science at the University of California, Davis.
