Ambassador Francois Nordmann is Switzerland's representative to the International Organisations in Geneva. In an interview, he presented reasons why Switzerland should become a full member of the United Nations.
Swiss News: Can you explain Switzerland's present position vis-a-vis the United Nations?
Francois Nordmann: Switzerland is a full member of the UN specialized agencies; but we have only observer status in the UN itself. In 1946 our government negotiated this status with the then Secretary-General. We have access to the Secretary-General and to all documentation.
