The recent deaths of 3 patients attributed to infections caused by transplanting tainted solid organs and tissues has US government officials calling for increased oversight of the screening processes designed to prevent such occurrences from happening.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) moved quickly to assure the public that there was no cause for alarm while informing the transplant community that recommendations for stricter screening guidelines will be forthcoming.
