Apr. 2--ROYAL CITY, Wash.--Doris Jelmberg pointed out areas off the bumpy roads winding through her farm where she often sees deer bounding through the brush.
"That's my reward when I go out early in the morning," she said in her thick European accent.
Long years of wildlife enhancement habits resulted in the Jelmberg farms being named as the Washington Wildlife Habitat Farm of the Year for 2001. The same award was won by Pirie and Jane Grant, also Royal City farmers, in recent years.
