ABIX via COMTEX) -- Qantas Airways and other carriers are soon expected to match Lufthansa Cargo's new fuel surcharge on freight. Lufthansa will charge a fuel surcharge of $A0.10 per kilogram of actual freight weight from 15 April 2002. The increase is in line with the group's policy of imposing a surcharge whenever the Fuel Price Index exceeds 115 points for two consecutive weeks. In the two weeks to early April 2002, the index reached 117 and 121 points. Airfreight Council of Queensland executive officer, Peter Langdon, has called for other airlines to follow Lufthansa's consistent and transparent approach to ...
