ABIX via COMTEX) -- Qantas Airways and other carriers are soon expected to match Lufthansa Cargo's new fuel surcharge on freight. Lufthansa will charge a fuel surcharge of $A0.10 per kilogram of actual freight weight from 15 April 2002. The increase is in line with the group's policy of imposing a surcharge whenever the Fuel Price Index exceeds 115 points for two consecutive weeks. In the two weeks to early April 2002, the index reached 117 and 121 points.
