Buffalo Grove's village board Monday said goodbye to retiring village Trustee John Marienthal with a special tribute.
Village President Elliott Hartstein thanked Marienthal for his 27 years of service to the board, the longest tenure of any elected official in village history.
"I don't think words can adequately express the gratitude and thanks of the entire community," Hartstein said.
Hartstein noted that during that time, the village established its own fire department, saw the development of its corporate and industrial parks, acquired Lake Michigan water and fostered the growth of its two golf courses.
