Former University of Wisconsin coach Dick Bennett reportedly expressed interest in the men's basketball coaching job at Oregon State but then dropped out of contention.
"I had indicated an interest in the position, and I was then contacted to see if we were going to go further with it," Bennett told The Oregonian. "It was within about a 24-hour period, and I realized I was not ready to return to the sideline. I simply did not want to waste their time."
However, Bennett added, "If I were to return to coaching, Oregon State is precisely the kind of position I'd be interested in. ... It's the ideal rebuilding ...
