Apr. 8--The U.S. Supreme Court's decision last week to take a pass on a potential landmark age discrimination case has given new hope to advocates for older workers' rights, who were bracing for a defeat. And while the ruling the court let stand was not favorable to their cause, the advocate community believes they will live to fight another day.
"I feel we sort of dodged a bullet," said Laurie McCann, senior attorney for AARP. "If they had the votes to rule against us, I don't understand why they wouldn't. That's not to say we didn't think we had the law on our side." McCann said ...
